Finally, Internet @ Home

We finally got internet set up at my new home yesterday. The technitian came in at 5:00 PM, and set up the basic connection to the cable modem. Once there, the engineers at our house got to work. The environmental engineers, Malik and Vikram were dealing with the problem of how to extend the wires to different computer nodes. They did a wonderful job in getting the links to the desired places. We computer engineers, Harish and Myself went in next, configuring the routers, setting up WEP..etc. Finally, we were done, with our own network up and running!! Hurraaaayyyy!!!.. Team work Rocks!!!.

Help from Snigdha

Now I can say.. My room WAS a mess. The mess is past tense now!!!. Today Snigdha came to help me organize my apartment, and I should say.. girls have a way in arranging things!!!. Some how, once she came in and started arranging, my room, which was full of randomly piled up things, actually, for a change (in 2 years of my living in US), started to look organized. Thanks Snig :).

Hey.. btw... I made good coffee for her yesterday :).

Later, Me, Mrigank, Snig, and mrigank's Grand Parents went to Wallmart to get some things.

New Apartment

Today, I moved to my new apartment. The new apartment is off campus, and is about 5 minutes drive from my school. My new apartment mates are Malik, Vikram, Swami, and Harish. Its really fun to be with all these people, with laughter being the biggest sound in the house. I am sure to be here for the next 7 months at the least... till I graduate. By the time I was done moving, and cleaning the old apartment, it was 3:00 AM. Though in the middle of piled up stuff that were waiting to be arranged in the new house, I got that amazing good night sleep, I guess, because of all the tiredness that was in me.

Anand Bazaar

Today, we all went to Anand bazar. The "We all" includes Padmaraj, Mrigank, Dheeraj, Snigdha and myself. Saurabh joined us at the baazar. Anand baazar is an evening celebrating Indian Independence day. It is truly wonderful experience here in US, where you are surrounded by Indians, and for that evening, you go back to your own sweet mother land, India. We had lots of chaat, and other food stuffs, and even with that busy schedule of eating, we did not forget to have fun, and commets were coming out surplus :D

Finally, at about 11:00 PM, we got out of there, only to see one of the most funniest...err... or should I say romantic scene. A couple was going just ahead of us. The lady and the guy were talking on their respective phones. It was then that we overherd the conversation, and guess what!!! They were talking to each other over the phone!!! Snigdha's sharp eyes and ears cannot miss a thing.

Well, I thought I would call it a day, but then, after we came home, we saw a movie. Again, I thouht I would call it a day... but..... gaming took over. We all were doing gaming till 7:00AM in the morning. Ha ha.. a crazy way to live... but I am liking it :).

Trouble Shooting Cable Network

Yesterday, I trouble shooted a cable network. This is one place where my frustrations on a previous occation, really came in handy. Back home, in India, I was trying to connect my Laptop to the cable modem, but It simply wont work!!!. Frustrated, I called up the cable company technocal assistance (A step I try to avoid as much as possible, as I like to solve things myself), and they told me that the Cable connection has a close relation to the machine IP address it is connected to. I came to know of this fact, that many dont know.

Yesterday, that was exactly the problem. Dheeraj was not able to connect his laptop to internet, but Rohit was able to browse. If the cable modem was connected to the router, it simply wont connect to the WAN. I changed that internal MAC address of the router by cloning, and changed it to Rohit's MAC address. And there you go!!! It worked!!!. Time taken to solve the problem : 10 Minutes!!

Evening with Snigdha and Swathi

Today was a relaxed day, after submitting my term paper on Nano technology. By evening, I was in no mood to even touch work material. I decided to go to my friend Snigdha's place. Mrigank joined me, and we both reached at her place soon. We met Swathi there. She just came to USA for pursuing PhD in Biotechnology. An interesting person, perhaps, I found that rare combination of being attractive, as well as intelligent, in her :).

Wow.. snig had made a wonderful dinner for us, and I was the last one to get off the table. Swathi was entertaining us with Shayaris, which even though initially, I didnt have a clue, started to enjoy once I grasped the meaning.

We were on our way back, when we had this idea of going for a "Short Drive". We all started on the "Short Drive", and apparantly, the short drive took us approx 2 hours :). It was fun!!!. It was a wonderful evening.
