Diwali Celebrations

Yesterday, there was Diwali party organized by Indian Students Assosiation, here at SMU.
Me and Tony reached Huges Trigg center at 6:45. We took the tickets and there, we met Shwetha, Reema, and Samata. Hey.. they were looking really nice!!!. Indian dress is the best!!!... esp in beautiful women. Well, we all got set for taking pictures, and that was when I realized that after the previous night (vikram's birthday), I had left my memory card back home. We went back home to get the card, and came back to the huges trigg center in like 10 minutes.

The programs had just started. Aneesh and another girl was the MCs for the show. The show was really nice. I particularly liked a dance in blue costume by 2 girls, and also, the fashion show. After the program it was dinner time. We all had dinner, and then, came the fun time. Actually, me and Tony were thinking of going back home after dinner. As we were heading out, Tony told me that he wanted to go in and say bye to Prem. We both went in where the dance floor was rocking with bhangdas!!!. Well... we didnt have to think much on changing our descition of hanging out there. I went back home, changed from traditional Indian dress, to jeans, shoes..etc, and got back to the dance floor. It was really fun!!!. I mean.. I had no idea how to dance. I think many dont have any idea how to dance... but then, what matters is the music, and the fun we all were having. .. just jumping around, and occationally some good moves :).

The party went on till 12:45, when everyone was tired. Tony went with Padmaraj and Prem, and I was planning on going back home. But as i was heading home, I wanted to go for a drive, and off I went to 75N. I drove for like an hour and then, came back. It was fun :).... just thinking over things that you did, things that happend to you. The road was all for me, so was not much worried about others cars coming into my lane.

Well, I got back home by like 2:00, and went to bed.

Treat From Swamy

Today Swamy treated all of us at Tabla Indian restraunt. Swamy is going to India next week to get married. The planning has been going on for quiet some time now, and the time has come for them to get married. While we all are a bit sad that Swamy is leaving us... atleast for some time, we all are very happy for him, and about his marriage. Swamy.. we room mates all wish you all the very best.

Vikram's Birthday

It's Vikram's birthday today - We room mates had grand plans for his birthday. The plan was to act as if we had forgotten his birthday, and finally, give him a surprise. But... :)... as with many plans .. it failed :). Harish broke the ice early... it made sense to break the plan .. because as we know Vikram, he will wander off to different places if not told to be home at some time.

Well, it was 12:00 at night, and the party started off by Vikram cutting the cake. To our surprise, the first slice of cake, he ate himself!!!! Following a wide spread "Boooooo.....", he reluctantly gave that cake (which I believe he wanted to have all for himself), to the near by person.

I am sure he regretted what he did :). Well, once the cake cutting was over, we took over the task of cutting the cake, while the whole apartment was shaking with the birthday bums we were giving to Vikram. What was he thinking when he got those bums? Was it something like "Hey... It was a bad idea to eat the cake by myself?".. or ..perhaps, this is what I think is possible.... is that, he was so busy dealing with the pain of kicks, that he forgot to even think!!!. Each kick, was making so loud a sound, I started thinking whether we can use this as a drum beat in a music composture. Ofcourse... Vikram will have to co-operate :).

Vikram, one of my best friends, had his birthday on Oct 30th. We all enjoyed being part of his happiness, and wish him all the very best for the year to come.

Learning Palmistry

I have started liking a new hobby. Learning palmistry. I am fascinaed by the science of predicting a persons life, how much he will prosper..etc, just by looking at his/her hand. I know that many people out there does not believe in palmistry. But, there is something I have been thinking. If a star like sun, and our planets, the moon, and many other celestial bodies can bring on effects like tide...etc in this earth, isint it logical that those bring about particular way of behaviour in a human? If that is the case, is there any language that defines that behaviour? Is that language, written on each person's hand? Is that what palmistry is all about? Can we ever decipher that coded language? These are some of the questions that is keeping me glued to this new hobby.

Well, the person who has agreed to teach me this, is himself an ultra genious. A recipient of Young Scientist Award, and present doing post doc in SMU, my room mate, Kumara Swamy, predicted my past with very good accuracy. I should tell you that he did not know much about my past. So, its not becuase of lack of education, that he himself believes in all this.

While I do believe in god, I dont believe blindly in palmistry, astrology..etc. But, I do know that it used to be a science that was pursued verymuch centuries before. Today, those sciences are rejected, as modern world came to existence. But, I still hear todays science coming up with great findings, only to know that references of those kind of findings are there in history. An example i our aeroplane. In a mythologiclal story called Ramayana, there is reference to a flying vehicle.

Well, today, I know how to predict the life span of a person, how to know whether a person will have riches in his life..etc. Well, how do I know I am right? I dont!!!. I really dont know whether I am right. And THAT is where the excitement is!!!. Each time, I shake hands with a person... all kinds of people .. my friends, family members, people who I dont know, I get to predict things about the person in my mind. I do keep a mental note, and a documentation. And the exitement is all about finding how that person goes about in life., and how accurate my predictions are. I am still learning..... and will be...... I guess... for ever!!!

The Dream

Its been some time since I updated my Blog. I was very much here.... but was busy with many other things. Well.. here I am, back on documenting the interesting things happening on my life. One of the things I am very happy about is that my friend, Vijay got into a UN internship. As I understand it, that is a tough one to get, and my friend has got the oppertunity. I think he will be starting his internship by January.

Well, on another note, I am all set for graduating. Yes... 2 years have passed, since I came to US. 2 years have passed since I left USSoftware, with a dream.. with an aim.. and today, I am just handful of days away from that dream coming true. On December 11th, 2004, its a dream coming true. I still remember the day of August 17th, 2001 when it all started. An extremely painful day for me, a day that will be in my memory for ever.. but... that day brought with it, a sense of determination in me. And, on Dec 11th 2004, a promise long given is coming true :).
